The Place
The Phat Duck is independently owned and run by husband and wife team Skip and AJ. They met as flatmates more than 18 years ago, and immediately hit it off. They have many years working in hospitality together and love what they do.
An Aha! Moment
When searching for a new name, Skip and AJ wanted something that reflected the local area, but they just couldn’t crack it.
Then one day, Skip was looking out the window when he saw a rather over-weight duck struggling to take off from the stream next to the restaurant. “That’s it”, thought Skip, in an illuminating light bulb moment. “We’ll call it The Phat Duck!” And that, as they say, was that.
The Layout
The venue features a restaurant at one end, and a bar at the other. There’s the Bean Bag area, which is perfect for chilling out. You’ll even find pokies and a TAB. Plus, there are two amazing outdoor areas, perfect for a cold one in the sun and dining al fresco.
The Staff
Some of Skip and AJ’s staff have been with them for more than nine years, so they’re kinda like family. And that’s a good thing, because it means friendly staff, great service… and a really great Phat Duck vibe.
